Foster Care to Adopt

Foster Care to AdoptWhat a blessing to complete your family through adoption! Children in foster care are often eligible for adoption because all efforts to reunite the child into a safe and secure relative home was not successful and adoption was of their best interest. The majority of children eligible for adoption are age 5 and up. There are many siblings. Younger children may be part of an older sibling set. Children are of varying cultures and ethnicities. Some may not speak English but most do. Generally speaking, after you have finished training and the home assessment, you will wait to be matched with a child. When there may be a possible match, a meeting will occur where social and medical information will be shared with you. You will have time to consider the information and seek advice as to whether proceeding is in the best interest of the child. In California, you may be able to participate in our WELCOME HOME USA program. Please check that link for details and the ICA Adoption FAQs link for answers to questions you may have.
